Political Strategy
To ensure your party reflects your values, become a local committee person.
In 2024, Project Civica launched the Common Sense Contract with New York to answer a troubling trend: 48 legislative races had only one radical progressive candidate on the ballot. Voter turnout plummeted, civic involvement was stagnant, and there was no real choice.
We recruited citizen candidates willing to stand up for everyday New Yorkers—not party machines. Each candidate pledged to uphold 7 focused, nonpartisan priorities rooted in the needs of their communities. That contract became a rallying point for voters, organizations, and volunteers who were ready to act.
In 2025, we’re bringing the Common Sense Contract to New York City—and we need your help.
This is about more than a candidate. It’s about offering voters a clear, common-sense alternative they can rally behind across city council, mayoral, and even gubernatorial races. It’s also about inviting organizations, businesses, and neighborhood groups to stand up and say: We want a better future, and we’re willing to work for it.
Whether you're a candidate, volunteer, parent, educator, or small business owner—you have a role to play.
In 2022, over 7 million registered New Yorkers didn’t vote in the Governor’s race. That’s 54.6% of eligible voters—more than either candidate received.*
Imagine the difference if even a fraction of those voices had been heard.
We’re not waiting for election season to make a difference. Our year-round voter outreach includes:
