SUPPORT THE SAVE ACT
This August, the grassroots are taking action to make sure only American citizens vote in American elections.
The House has already passed the SAVE Act—but that doesn’t mean the job is done. To become law, both chambers of Congress will need to include it in must-pass legislation this summer. And that won’t happen unless lawmakers feel real pressure from the people they represent.
Thats why we are collaborating with Tea Party Patriots Action to launch Only Citizens Vote Month in New York, a grassroots effort during August to ensure that the SAVE Act is finally passed by both the House and the Senate, and signed into law by President Trump.
Why This Matters
-
86% of Americans support requiring proof of citizenship to vote.
-
Our current system relies on unverifiable self- attestation.
-
Verified voting protects voters and strengthens trust.
The SAVE Act is simple: it requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. It closes a dangerous loophole and restores confidence in our elections. This is our chance to get it done. Let’s make August count.

What Is the SAVE Act?
In a constitutional republic like ours, the right to vote is both sacred and powerful — and it belongs to citizens. Yet today, there is no federal requirement to prove U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. That means in many states, individuals may register using only a sworn statement, without ever showing documentation of citizenship.
The SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act is a federal bill that protects election integrity by requiring:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections
- States to verify citizenship status during registration
- Transparency and enforcement of existing voting laws
Protect the Integrity of Our Elections: Submit Your Comment to the EAC
What is the EAC?
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is a bipartisan federal agency created by the
Help America Vote Act of 2002. Its role is to assist states in administering elections,
maintain election standards, and oversee the national voter registration form that every
state is required to accept. The EAC has the authority to set requirements that ensure
elections are secure, fair, and trustworthy.
The Petition from America First Legal
In August 2025, America First Legal (AFL) filed a petition with the EAC (Docket No. EAC- 2025-0236-0001) requesting a critical change to the federal voter registration form: Require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship (DPOC)—such as a birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate, or Real ID–compliant driver’s license—before anyone can register to vote in federal elections.
Right now, the federal form relies only on a self-checked box where applicants affirm they are citizens. This “honor system” has allowed non-citizens to slip onto the rolls in states like Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Texas. Some have even voted. This undermines confidence in our elections and dilutes the votes of lawful citizens.
The AFL petition asks the EAC to set a clear, consistent national standard that protects both citizens (by ensuring their votes are not cancelled out) and non-citizens (by preventing them from accidentally registering and risking legal consequences).
Why Your Voice Matters
The EAC is required to consider public comments before making a decision. This is your
opportunity to directly influence federal election policy. Adding your voice strengthens the
call for election integrity and sends a clear message: Only citizens should determine
America’s future.
How to Comment
- Visit the official EAC docket page: https://www.regulations.gov/document/EAC-2025-0236-0001
- Share your support for requiring proof of citizenship on the federal voter registration
form by Monday October 20, 2025.
- Keep your comment respectful, clear, and to the point.
Sample Comment You Can Use
I strongly support America First Legal’s petition to require documentary proof of U.S.
citizenship on the federal voter registration form. Voting is the sacred right of American
citizens, and anything less than real proof of citizenship leaves our elections vulnerable.
Requiring documentary proof of US Citizenship will strengthen confidence in election
outcomes, protect lawful voters, and ensure that only citizens determine America’s future.
